Autumn catch of Sakuraebi in Shizuoka's Sagawa Bay has finally been cleared. At Byōbun Port, they held the first auction on Friday 5th. First day's catch was around 2.3 tons, same as last year, but quality has been decreasing.
Sakuraebi caught were also smaller than usual this time. Summer heat likely slowed down their growth...
It's ironic that the Sagawa Bay fishery, which hasn't fished since April 2018 due to overfishing, is now setting a limit of 12 December for this year's autumn catch. They should be careful not to slip back into bad fishing habits...
