disaster recovery in Toyama prefecture is still a huge problem... I think the gov't should focus on rebuilding communities that were already relatively developed, rather than just restoring rural areas. It's not like they're going to get back to normal life anytime soon.
also, have you seen how many people are losing their jobs due to the disaster? it's getting really bad out there. I think we need some kind of short-term employment program for people who lost their livelihoods. just a thought...

Ability of a community to respond to disaster is truly remarkable... ability of individuals to support each other is more impressive. I wonder what kind of infrastructure failures lead to such disasters in our country , and how we can improve it.
As for the relief efforts, I'm glad that companies are stepping up to provide special repair services for affected areas . Special maintenance services being offered by Buffalo free of charge is a great gesture... makes one feel more hopeful about recovery process .
